This week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the #BESOS_RP project event in Lombriasco (TO), dedicated to welfare and sustainability in Piedmontese cattle farming. What made the event especially meaningful was the audience: high-school students from the Istituto Tecnico Agrario Don Bosco, the #nextGeneration of agricultural professionals.

The project is led by the Università degli Studi di Torino and Coalvi, and I presented our work at the SMILIES Polito Research Group at the Politecnico di Torino.

My presentation, “Digital technologies for smart agriculture: how IoT sensors and AI algorithms support animal welfare and livestock management”, focused on the project’s #DigitalStrategy: multimodal data, longitudinal analysis, and validation of smart tools to better understand animal welfare. Huge thanks to Alessia Leclercq, Lorenzo Martini, and Salar Farahmand for their contributions to the analyses presented and to Stefano Di Carlo and the whole SMILIES Polito Research Group for the teamwork!
