This question was at the heart of the Special Track โ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ & ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐บ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐โ, organized by our SMILIES member Gianluca Amprimo at the IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2026) in Cyprus ๐จ๐พ.
The session explored how AI and digital biomarkers can support the detection, monitoring, and management of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimerโs, Parkinsonโs, and ALS across the entire care continuum, from clinic to home ๐ฅ๐ .
We were particularly happy to see two PhD students contribute to the discussion: Giulia Masi presented ๐๐๐-๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ด ๐๐ด๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ๐ป’๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ: ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐-๐ฆ๐๐ฏ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต, while Ilaria Ciampa shared their work on ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฅ๐ฉ-๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐น๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐๐ฒ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐. The session also featured an insightful presentation by the track chair, Gianluca Amprimo, onย ๐ฅ๐๐-๐ ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ป๐๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ๐ปโ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ: ๐ฎ ๐ ๐๐น๐๐ถ-๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, sharing some insights from the recently concluded ๐ข๐บ๐ป๐ถ๐ฎ-๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ project.
Because the future of AI in healthcare is not just about smarter algorithms, itโs about creating tools that clinicians can understand, trust, and use to improve patientsโ lives ๐ค๐ก.
A big thank you to all speakers, attendees, and participants for the engaging presentations, insightful discussions, and exchange of ideas that made this session such a valuable experience ๐โจ.
